Kiln Corner Pond

Greater spearwort, Kiln Corner pond

Another remnant of the ponds on the former Prestwood Common now sits at the junction of three roads, Kiln Road, Moat Lane and Hotley Bottom Lane.  It was restored by hand by Prestwood Nature volunteers and is regularly maintained to prevent overgrowth of yellow iris to preserve the uncommon Greater Spearwort that naturally grows there (and otherwise only at the Sheepwash).  There are plans for further work here to remove more sweet-grass and yellow iris choking the rest of the vegetation.
