The 2017 Junior Wildlife Photo Competition attracted 79 entries from young people aged between 9 and 16.
Judging has now taken place and the results were announced at the Prestwood Nature AGM on 7th November. The Judges were impressed by the very high standard of photography, both technical and composition. Six certificates were awarded, two gold, two silver and two bronze.
The winners are shown in the slide show below. Click on the coloured dots to move from one picture to the next.

Aphids on Poppy
Annie Sutcliffe aged 13
The judges were particularly impressed by the sharpness of the image which shows beautifully the hairs on the bud and stem. You can even see the aphids on the stem. The out of focus background brings emphasise to the flower.
Isabelle Warren aged 14
The judges particularly liked the framing of the subject with the deer looking directly at the camera and framed beautifully by the surrounding grass.
Red Kite in Mid-air
Heather Nixey aged 16
The judges were very impressed by the detail in the bird’s face that has been captured by this photo. The face-on view gives it a real sense of action.
Bumblebee on Cornflower
Annie Sutcliffe aged 13
The judges liked the sharpness and detail of both the flower and the bee. The narrow depth of field gives emphasis to the main subject.
Hannah Eades aged 13
The judges thought the expression was beautifully captured and the black-and-white image gave extra impact to the photo.
